President and Chief Executive Officer: Kevin C.
Moriarty
Kevin C. Moriarty joined Methodist Healthcare Ministries in
1996 as its first Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible
for leadership, executive administration, and policy
guidance to the Board of Directors, and creating the
structure necessary to accomplish the goals of the
corporation. He has successfully implemented the Board
strategy of community health, guiding MHM from one program
of $200,000 for 1,200 clients a year in 1996 to an
expenditure of nearly $30 million in 2006, through a
multitude of contracts and operated programs. Mr. Moriarty
was previously with the City of San Antonio for 20 years.
His last appointment was Director of the Department of
Community Initiatives.
Chief Financial Officer: Peggy Cary
Peggy Cary has been the Chief Financial Officer for
Methodist Healthcare Ministries since 1995. She is
responsible for all financial related aspects of MHM,
including overseeing the finance department’s staff of
financial analysts, accountants, auditors, and the accounts
payable and payroll functions. As a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA), she worked for 12 years in the audit
department at Ernst & Young. She is a Certified Fellow of
the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA), and
served as president of the South Texas Chapter in 1989 and
2001. She also served a two-year term on the Emerging Issues
Committee of HFMA's National Advisory Council. Peggy
completed a two year commitment in 2006 serving as HFMA
Region 9's Regional Executive which involved monitoring the
performance of seven HFMA chapters in a five state area.
Executive Director: Joe Babb
Joe Babb joined Methodist Healthcare Ministries in 1996
as Director of Clinics and served in that capacity until his
promotion to Executive Director in January of 2005. He is
responsible for directing the organization to ensure
successful implementation of Board and CEO mission
objectives to include matters concerning fulfillment of the
Strategic Plan for the next 5 years; Partnership Agreement;
compliance issues related to community benefits and charity
care at the System; and public policy initiatives on the
State and City level. He works closely with the Executive
Team to guide, advise, and mentor directors and/or managers.
Prior to joining MHM, Mr. Babb was the Chief Operations
Officer for Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio.
Executive Director; Pilar Oates
Pilar Oates joined Methodist Healthcare Ministries in 1996
as Director of Programs and served in that capacity until
her promotion to Executive Director in January of 2005. She
is responsible for directing the organization to ensure
successful implementation of Board and CEO mission
objectives to include matters concerning fulfillment of the
Strategic Plan for the next 5 years; Partnership Agreement;
and public policy initiatives on the State and City level.
She works closely with the Executive Team to guide, advise,
and mentor directors and/or managers. Prior to joining the
staff of MHM, Ms. Oates was with the City of San Antonio as
Literacy Program Coordinator.
