Candy Carter, RN, Wesley Nurse with Methodist Healthcare Ministries and Bracken United Methodist Church will be sponsoring the San Antonio Mobile Food Pantry in Schertz.
The Food Pantry will be in the Schertz First Baptist Church parking lot on Wednesday, May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to noon, distributing food to eligible families in need of food assistance. If you qualify to receive food, or you wish to see if you are eligible, please go to one of the following locations: First Baptist Church office (600 Aero), Schertz Housing Authority Office (204 Schertz Pkwy), or RACAP (307 Pfeil St.) in Schertz. Vouchers are available at each of the locations listed above. Please not that you MUST pick up a vouch prior to May 25. The Mobile Pantry will bring fresh, refrigerated and frozen items to be distributed to eligible families. The Mobile Pantry Coordinator will also provide on-site outreach for Social Services and Nutrition Education programs and will also be able to take applications for all the social programs offered for the SAFB Social Services department including:
- SNAP (Food Stamps)
- CHIP/Children's Medicaid
- Adult Medicaid
- WIC
- Women's Health Program
- Long Term Care
- TANF
- Medicaid for the Elderly & People with Disabilities
The coordinator will also provide some nutrition education which will include the My Pyramid Eating Healthy Guide, give some ideas on how to stay health and fit, as well as provide recipes on some the items being distributed.
