Who We Are
Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM) is a private,
faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing
medical and health-related human services to low-income
families and the uninsured in South Texas.
The mission of the organization is “Serving Humanity to
Honor God,” by improving the physical, mental and spiritual
health of those least served in the Southwest Texas
Conference area of The United Methodist Church.
It’s Different Here
MHM team members know that the job they do is going to make
a difference is someone’s life. Someone whose child is sick
and cannot afford to pay for medication; an elderly person
who, if not for our family wellness programming, would have
no social support system; or a person who has been diagnosed
with diabetes and needs help managing their disease.
Team Approach
The contribution each team member makes is important to our
growth and success, and more importantly, in helping to
achieve our mission.
From the top levels of our leadership to staff who are on
the frontlines of our clinics, there is a commitment to
ensure each member of the team is successful and fulfilled
in their position. Team members are provided with tools and
resources to strengthen their performance and have access to
training that allows for continued professional development.

1/19/2010 - My primary goal has always been to
make a difference in the lives of families in need. Every
day whether through home visitations or our parent support
groups, I am blessed with the opportunity to work for an
organization that equips, trains and supports its team
members to be effective in their roles. The greatest reward
comes in witnessing the transformation of lives and to know
without a doubt you have made a difference!
1/14/2010 - Social Work was a personal calling for
me. My position here allows me to directly assist parents in
obtaining health care coverage for their children,
advocating for them as needed, and doing what I can to
address some of the many concerns and burdens that they face
during these extremely difficult economic times. I’m truly
grateful to God to have the opportunity to help them and for
the privilege of working alongside an incredible team of
caring individuals.
1/14/2010 - I am grateful to have the opportunity
to work for a Christian orientated company and to be able to
serve the community on a daily basis. You can see the relief
on the faces of our clients/patients when we let them know
we are able to help them in their needs. With God all things
are possible.

- In the 7 years of I’ve been a member of the MHM family
I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to enhance the lives
of children and families. I was intrigued to find an
organization that provided a holistic approach to serving
the community and was honored to be apart of a positive
change in the lives of families. It is a humble experience
when a parent hugs you in tears because we took the time to
listen and guide them through a fragile moment in their
lives-this is the rewarding benefit of being a part of the
MHM team!
